Research Technician: Developmental Biology Unit

EMBL is looking for a Research Technician to join the group of Dr. Detlev Arendt in the Developmental Biology Unit at the EMBL Heidelberg, Germany. The Arendt group studies and compares marine invertebrate animals and their constituent cells, to understand the origin and evolution of the nervous system and of the entire animal body.

The successful candidate will be in charge of general lab management, organization and purchase for the laboratory. She/he will also work on specific research projects, alone and in collaboration with other lab members.

Personal qualifications:

The ideal applicant should hold an appropriate degree from a university or technical school training in molecular cell biology. Experience in molecular biology is essential for this position. The ideal candidate should have a special interest in basic science and laboratory work, is able to plan strategically, possesses a special attention for details, is very well organized and can manage time effectively. Intuitiveness, the ability to take responsibility and work independently, as well as in a team, are required. Motivation to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment is fundamental to this position. Fluency in English is expected.

You might also have experience with transgenics (CRISPR/Cas9 or shRNAs) and micro-injections. Biochemistry skills as antibody generation. Experience with light microscopy, with super-resolution microscopy in particular.
